Qualcomm Introduces Quick Charge 3.0: Faster And Better

Updated on

When it comes to our mobile batteries, many times they barely manage to get us through the day, which is really a problem. That’s why Qualcomm introduced Quick Charge, a new and faster way to charge up your device.

Quick Charging 3.0: From 0% to 80% charging in just 35 minutes

Qualcomm’s Quick Charge has been through two iterations, and the company has just announced version 3.0, which is the first of its kind to employ Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage (INOV). INOV can charge a typical phone from 0% to 80% in just about 35 minutes compared to conventional mobile devices without Quick Charge. With Quick Charge 2.0, you can get 62% of a charge in just 29 minutes, while with Quick Charge 3.0, you can get 70% of a charge in the same time.

Qualcomm says Quick Charge 3.0 is designed to be up to 38% more efficient than Quick Charge 2.0. Also it offers 27% faster charging compared to Quick Charge 2.0 and also reduces power dissipation by up to 45%.

Quick Charge 3.0 is also backward compatible with previous versions of this technology, which means your old chargers and cables should still work. It can be implemented with USB Type-C, USB Type-A, MicroUSB, and proprietary connectors.

You will, however, need to wait until next year as this technology will appear with select Qualcomm processors, like the Snapdragon 820, 620, 618, 617 and 430. You can also expect this technology on many accessories like wall chargers, car chargers and portable battery packs.
