Apple Pushes Out Fixed watchOS 2 With Many Update

Updated on

Apple has begun the roll-out of its watchOS2 operating system software. The new version of the Apple Watch software was scheduled for delivery last Wednesday with iOS 9, it but had to be held back due to a last minute bug that took longer to fix than expected. The update is also available on the iPhone’s Apple Watch app.

Many updates with watchOS 2

The new version of the operating system aims to deliver faster performance and supply new watch face options, including the ability to use the owner’s photo as the watch face. Apple informed owners that the watch will have several new native apps, for which they will not have to use their phones. The update includes third-party app complications and new capabilities in Mail, Friends and Digital Touch. Apple’s watchOS2 allows developers to create their own watch face complications, helping users add glance-able information.

Complications will also include a new capability called “Time Travel,” which makes it possible for users to rotate the Digital Crown on their Apple Watch to see information like calendar entries, weather and more. Nightstand mode is yet another feature added to the Apple Watch, allowing the watch face to be viewed while the device is lying on its side for charging. In this position, users can snooze or end an alarm in the morning by making use of the Digital Crown and side button. Improvements have also been made to Siri, Apple Pay and Wallet, Friends and Digital Touch, Maps, and Music.

“This update is the first major software update for Apple Watch and includes new watch faces, third-party app complications, new capabilities in mail, Friends and Digital Touch, and support for third-party apps running natively,” Apple said.

Apple Watch has 10,000 apps

Apple Watch owners can easily download the update by opening the Apple Watch iPhone app and navigating to the general menu. From there, they will be required to select the Software Update. The new version will install wirelessly. Apple has cautioned the users that before downloading the update, they should make sure the iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi, and to its charger and has at least 50% battery power.

Though Apple did not disclose watch sales figures, it informed investors that its high-tech timepiece has 10,000 apps. Apple rivals too have launched smartwatches, intensifying competition in the space. Samsung, Motorola (Lenovo), LG and Huawei have all introduced a smartwatch. Recently, Google announced software making some Android Wear watches compatible with the iPhone.
