After Apple unveils new devices, fans who are crazy about its products usually flock to its stores. Though Apple is still to announce its next iPhone, a tent has already been set up by a fan outside an Apple Store in Sydney, Australia. This information comes from CNET editor Seamus Byrne, who tweeted a picture showing the tent outside the Apple store.
Good opportunity for promoting startup or brand
Generally, people who wish to promote their startups, brands or cause try to snag the first spot in line outside Apple stores as they see it as a good promotion opportunity. And this is the case this time as well.
According to Mashable, the person inside the tent is Lindsay Handmer, who wants to be the first to buy the latest version of the iPhone and has already spent a night in front of the store inside his tent. By camping out, Handmer hopes to raise money for a charity and promote its mysparetech.com, which is an online second-hand technology marketplace. Handmer will sell the iPhone he will be buying, and the money collected will be given to Mission Australia. Apple’s new iPhones are expected to go on sale around Sept. 18.
Not new for Apple
People also started lining up before Apple’s announcement last year when the firm was about to reveal the iPhone 6. People were seen lining in front of Apple’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City six days prior to the launch event and around 16 days before the iPhone 6 was made available at stores.
Last year, some people who were waiting outside the Apple store in New York were actually paid to pitch products, and there’s a possibility a similar scenario will take place this year as well. Usually there is a gap of two weeks between Apple’s product launch event and its launch date. So, we can expect the tent to be there for some more time.
Today, Apple is expected to announce three new products: the iPhone 6S, an overhauled Apple TV and a giant-screened “iPad Pro.” The San Francisco event starts at 10 a.m. Pacific/1 p.m. Eastern.
