Samsung Offers iPhone Users To Try Out Galaxy Note 5 For Free

Updated on

Samsung has just begun selling its latest flagship phablets Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ in stores. And now the Korean electronics behemoth has come up with a promotional offer to steal away users of Apple’s iPhones. Samsung has launched an offer called the “Ultimate Test Drive” to give iPhone users a chance to try out its latest smartphones for 30 days.

Pay just $1 to participate in the trial

The offer is aimed at getting Apple users to switch to the Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge+. It costs just $1 to participate in the trial. During the month-long test drive, you will get to try out the devices with a free data plan. Users of U.S. carriers including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint get an activated SIM card from their current carrier under the no-obligation offer.

At the end of the trial period, those who choose to buy a qualifying Galaxy device or “make the switch” will have “even more love waiting for you.” Tom’s Guide reports that participants will have to send back the test drive kit even if they are inclined to purchase the new Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Can Galaxy Note 5 revive Samsung’s sales?

Samsung is losing market share to Apple and Chinese smartphone vendors. According to research firm Gartner, the Korean company’s market share fell from 26% to 21.9% in the quarter ending June. The company’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have failed to draw massive sale figures. The new Galaxy S6 Edge+ is simply an upsized version of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Though the Galaxy Note 5 lacks anything revolutionary, the device has bested Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus in camera performance. The Note 5 also offers a better battery life than the iPhone 6 Plus. Phone Arena conducted battery tests and found that the Galaxy Note 5 lasts 9 hours and 11 minutes, much higher than 6 hours and 32 minutes for the iPhone 6 Plus. Samsung’s latest flagship takes less than half the time compared to Apple’s 5.5-inch phone.
