iPhone 6S Reservations Kicked Off By German Carrier

Updated on

Apple fans in Germany can now reserve the upcoming iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. German carrier Deutsche Telekom has started accepting online reservations for the next-gen iPhones, reports Apfelpage.de (via MacRumors). The telecom carrier doesn’t  mention the ‘iPhone 6S’ and ‘iPhone 6S Plus’ by name. But accepting reservations less than a month before the official launch can’t be mere coincidence.

Customers can get the new iPhones at their doorstep

Customers who sign up for the next-gen devices will get a preferred delivery, claims Deutsche Telekom. The carrier had launched a similar reservation system in 2011 just weeks before the launch of the iPhone 4S. Deutsche Telekom has not revealed features or specs of the new iPhones, and it doesn’t yet allow customers to select the model, storage option or color of the phone.

The non-binding reservation allows the carrier’s existing and new customers to redeem a reservation ticket via email or SMS by providing their contact details. Deutsche Telekom will deliver the new iPhones to the doorstep of such customers, eliminating the need of waiting in a queue at the carrier’s stores or an Apple Store.

iPhone 6S to be unveiled on September 9

Apple is reportedly planning to unveil the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus on Wednesday, September 9. Recent leaks suggest that the new phones will retain the design elements of their predecessors. But users can expect some major changes, the biggest of them being the integration of Force Touch technology. Force Touch sensors will make the new iPhones 0.2mm thicker than current flagship models. But that difference in thickness is hardly noticeable.

Another important change is the use of Series 7000 aluminum. The new aluminum alloy will make the upcoming iPhones bend-proof. Apple partners have started mass production of the new iPhones. Supply chain leaks suggest that both the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will feature a 12-megapixel main camera with OIS and 4K video recording capabilities. The phones will have 2GB RAM, an improved A9 processor, and a new Qualcomm LTE modem.
