HTC has rolled out four new affordable Desire smartphones in the U.S. market. The lineup includes Desire 626, 626S, 526 and 520. The first two models feature a 5-inch screen and come in a choice of five color options: blue lagoon, gray lava, marshmallow white, marine white and white birch. The HTC Desire 526 boasts a 4.7-inch screen, and the HTC Desire 520 features a 4.5-inch screen. The former device comes in black, and the latter comes in white.
HTC Desire line offers standard features
All the new HTC phones come with 8MP rear cameras, 2,000 mAh batteries, and LTE connectivity. The front-facing cameras featured on the phones will vary. The Desire 626 features a 5MP front camera, but the other three phones come with 2MP cameras.
Other specs for the HTC Desire 626 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, 16GB of storage, and microSD support for storage of up to 200GB. The HTC Desire 526 boasts a Qualcomm MSM8909 quad-core 1.1GHz processor, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 8GB of internal storage and microSD card support.
Many U.S. carriers to offer HTC Desire phones
According to HTC, the new phones will be available through many mobile carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint Prepaid, Virgin Mobile, Boost, Tracfone, Cricket, and MetroPCS. Some of the phone models will be limited to prepaid carriers. For example, the Desire 520 will be a Cricket exclusive, and the Desire 526 will be available through Verizon’s prepaid service. The phones will retail for under $200 to keep them on the affordable side. HTC’s Desire smartphone line was designed to be a low-cost alternative to the more upscale One line. HTC trades high-end features like an aluminum finish and expensive internal specs for plastic bodies and cheaper components.
The affordable Desire line has enjoyed a lot of success in the United States. HTC is happy to announce that rolling out the line to a wide range of phone carriers is part of the strategy going forward.
