Windows 10 And Windows 10 Pro OEM Pricing Leaked

Updated on

Windows 10 is Microsoft’s upcoming operating system, but the company has been successful in hiding details like pricing up until now. Every time the company tries to keep pricing under wraps, it gets leaked, and the same thing has happened now. This time, the OEM pricing of Windows 10 and Windows 10 Pro has apparently been leaked by an online retailer and was first spotted by ZDNet.

The pricing details were reportedly leaked by Newegg.com, an online retailer, and they have also started to accept preorders for OEM versions. Newegg did the same thing when Windows 8 was going to be released in 2012, and this time is no different.

Windows 10 pricing leaked

Doing a simple search on Newegg reveals two results for OEM versions of Windows 10. One version is Windows 10 Home OEM, and the other is Windows 10 Pro – OEM. The two versions are priced $109.99 and $149.99 respectively. The listing on the site says that the release date is August 31, and both versions were available for preorder at the time of writing.

Comparing these prices with Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro at the time of their launch, the prices are $10 higher this time.

Microsoft has previously said that current Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 users will be able to upgrade to the new operating system for free as long as they do so within one year of the launch of Windows 10. What’s not clear is how will the company offer Windows 10 to users running pirated copies of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

Windows 10 is expected to be released in late July in 190 countries and 111 languages. However, the release date is just a rumor and is not confirmed officially by Microsoft. The Redmond company has plans to put its Windows 10 onto 1 billion devices within the next two to three years. Will the company achieve this target or not? Well, only time will tell.
