Based on Nielsen data released on Monday, The Walking Dead show that opened on October 12, 2014 garnered 1.3 million tweets, reaching an audience of 7.4 million users, according to USA Today.

Empire’s season finale on March 18 earned 2.4 million tweets, which is the highest number for any series episode reaching 5.9 million users. However, the highest audience number on Twitter for any episode was garnered by Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary with 9.1 million.
