Samsung’s upcoming phablet Galaxy Note 5 will support USB 3.1 Type-C port, reports Korean website Naver citing inside sources. Notably, 3.1 might have become synonymous with Type-C, but it is an improved version of USB 3.0. The new port could make using your phablet a lot easier and quicker. Users will be able to plug in a USB Type-C cable in either way.
Galaxy Note 5 could be charged pretty quickly
Besides the reversible plug, the USB 3.1 Type-C port can transfer data at 10GB per second, twice the speed of USB 3.0. So, transferring photos, videos, and files would become much faster with the Galaxy Note 5. The device could be charged pretty quickly as the USB 3.1 handles 5amp and 20vols of power, compared to 1.8amp and 5volt by USB 3.0.
However, industry insiders revealed that the Galaxy Note 5 will not feature a 4K display, which has been rumored for months. The Note 5 will instead stick to a 2K display. The same report claims that Samsung’s next flagship phablet will support UFS 2.0 flash memory that appeared in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. It would allow users to install and load apps much faster.
Galaxy Note 5 to have a 5.89-inch screen
The Galaxy Note 5 will have a screen size of 5.89-inches. The next-gen phablet will be thinner at just 7.9mm compared to Galaxy Note 4, which has an 8.5mm profile. Its battery capacity will be increased to 4,100mAh from 3,220mAh in the Note 4. The report claims that the Galaxy Note 5 under development currently runs Android 5.1.1 OS. Among other features, it will run a powerful Exynos 7422 processor that combines RAM, GPU, GPU, storage and modem on a single chip.
A few days ago, Samsung was granted a new patent for auto-ejecting S Pen stylus. The patent has fueled rumors that the technology could be used in the Galaxy Note 5. The technology uses electromagnets to eject the stylus. The auto-ejection process is software based, which works via a swipe action, voice command or button press. It is still unclear whether Samsung will include this technology in the Galaxy Note 5.
The Galaxy Note 5 is widely expected to be unveiled at the annual IFA event in September.
