QuizUp Transformed Into Social Media Network

Updated on

Mobile gaming just got even more social. One former game app called QuizUp has relaunched as a social media network. Plain Vanilla Games (an Iceland-based company) aims to create more social connections for users. The new application is available in Apple’s App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore.

QuizUp gets a big update

The updated design includes everything you would expect from a social network, including home feeds, followers and a topics system. Other notable features include comment threads, chats and message boards. Although the site is turning into a social network, it’s still keeping quizzes. Users can shuffle through 1,200 quiz topics and 600,000 questions.

The app’s user interface includes extras like a main category store featuring a wide variety of topics. Each interest page offers a forum complete with threads and photos.

QuizUp CEO opens up

QuizUp founder and CEO Thor Fridriksson explained that they were the first game app to focus on the social aspect. They want to connect people with each other, and the new social networking features present a great way to do just that. The team spent roughly a year on creating the social network. What differentiates QuizUp’s new social media site from Facebook and other similar sites? Fridrrisson says this website is more of a place to meet new people rather than engaging with those you already know.

The QuizUp app has been facing an increasing amount of competition from similar apps like Trivia Crack. It is evident that QuizUp is trying to expand and offer something more. Adding social media features not only differentiates the company from competitors but also gives users a reason to stay on the app longer.

QuizUp also plans on launching an app for desktop users with the same features and functions as the mobile app. QuizUp’s update is sure to excite fans and appeal to others who want more than just games.
