Samsung To Launch ‘Iron Man’ Version Of Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge

Updated on

Samsung has now officially confirmed that it would soon launch the ‘Iron Man’ versions of its flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones. The electronics giant said Monday that the new devices will reflect the design aspects of Iron Man’s armored suit, reports The Korea Times. Iron Man is an American superhero character featured in The Avengers.

Iron Man Galaxy S6 may arrive by the end of this month

Ever since Samsung announced the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in March, there have been widespread rumors that the company would launch special Avengers versions of its newest devices. So, the official announcement did not come as a big surprise. Lee Young-hee, head of marketing at Samsung Mobile, said that the color of the Iron Man phones will be red.

Young-hee said that other details will be finalized after discussions with Marvel Studio. She added that the Iron Man-themed devices will be released later this month or early June. Last year, Samsung and Marvel Studio inked a global marketing deal. In the latest movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, you could see a lot of Samsung products such as tablets and the dual-edge Galaxy S6 Edge.

Samsung positioning itself as a futuristic tech behemoth

The Korean electronics giant believes that such collaborations could help raise its brand awareness as an innovative, future-oriented technology company. Samsung started selling the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in 20 markets last month, and demand for its new phones has been humongous. The company expects to sell 70 million units of the S6 and S6 Edge through the end of this year.

When asked about how well the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were selling, Samsung mobile chief JK Shin said that they were “cruising smoothly.” Shin added that the supply of Galaxy S6 Edge has increased in May compared to April. The Korean company is also expected to launch more versions of the S6 based on other Avengers characters as well.
