Russia Warns US Troops Being In Ukraine Could Escalate War

Updated on

Right when you think Russia just can’t get any more brazen, you get another round of threats coming out of Russia’s top officials’ mouths.

As ValueWalk reported on March 5, the United States Army was preparing to send approximately 300 troops to train and advise Ukrainian forces in western Ukraine. The paratroopers are going to spend six months (until October 31, 2015) training the Ukraine’s National Guard.

And to nobody’s surprise, Russia is now warning the US that the training could escalate fighting in eastern Ukraine. So basically, Russia is afraid of 300 US paratroopers and yet it thinks it has the right to threaten Washington with nuclear war out in the open.

For those who missed the big news, just 2 weeks ago, Russia threatened to use its nuclear force against the United States and its allies if NATO moves more forces into the Baltic states or if attempts are made to return Crimea to Ukraine.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin also didn’t like the arrival of US paratroopers to Ukraine.

“The participation of instructors and specialists from a third country on the territory of Ukraine, where an unresolved intra-Ukrainian conflict remains, where problems persist in carrying out the Minsk agreement, is far from helping resolve the conflict. To the contrary, it enables destabilizing the situation,” Peskov said.

The training is a significant upgrade in US involvement in Ukraine, which has been promised by US officials so many times and came true just now. Russian and US soldiers are now within 800 miles of each other in Ukraine.

Russia will Learn the Tactics of the US Army

However, that’s not the only thing Russia is concerned about.

Russian Foreign Ministry representative Alexander Lukashevich has recently expressed the usual Kremlin mantra about the Ukraine National Guard members being “ultranationalists.” He also said that the men in the guard have “stained themselves with the blood of women, children and the elderly during their punitive operations.”

The National Guard troops could indeed include Azov Battalion, which is known for using a Nazi military insignia on their uniforms. But to Lukashevich’s disappointment, Azov fighters will not take part in the training with the US Army paratroopers, James Hallock, a spokesman for the United States Embassy, has recently told reporters.

Having many of its spy agents in Ukraine, it is obvious that Russia will monitor the training closely, trying to learn the tactics of the US army in order to be able to use it in case military confrontation between Moscow and Washington begins.

Al Jazeera reporters in Moscow said that if “irregular” troops such as the Azov Battalion will take part in the training with the US paratroopers, “it will give the Russians a very strong case that the US is training fascists and neo-Nazis.”

The latest United Nations Human Rights report said more than 6,110 people have been killed since the fighting between pro-Russian rebels and the Ukraine troops began.

Will the US be Destroyed During the World War 3?

Despite the cease-fire agreement reached in Minsk on February 12, the relations between Russian and the US are at its worst since the Cold War. There are even wide speculations who would win the World War 3.

The US will be completely wiped off the face of the Earth, editor of Europesolidaire Jean-Paul Baquiast wrote. He believes that when the US realizes it has no power to counter Russian threats by conventional and non-military means, it will try to destroy it with its armed forces. And in case an armed confrontation happens, the US will most likely perform a series of preemptive nuclear attacks against Russia.

“Chances of the United States to destroy Russia without consequences for itself are small,” the editor of Europesolidaire said.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is taking safety measures to be prepared for any attack by pro-Russian rebels or Russian agents during May 8-9 celebrations of victory over Nazi Germany in 1945, which usually bring thousands of people on to the streets.

As part of the measures, Ukraine is planning to get tens of thousands of police to guard the most probable locations of the attacks, top security officials said on Tuesday.

“Russia Has Planned Dozens of Terrorist Acts”

“We cannot trust the word of Russia and their terrorists at all. We must be ready to give a clear, appropriate and strong reply to protect people on the streets, provide warnings of terrorist attacks and bring those guilty of crimes to justice,” Ukraine’s Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk told security chiefs.

Yatseniuk also said that Russia was spending a lot of money on financing terrorist networks to destabilize the situation in Ukraine. The question is: where does Russia take so much money?

The sanctions imposed by the West over the annexation of Crimea and Moscow’s support for separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine had cost Russia $26.7 billion in 2014. This year, the costs could increase up to $80 billion, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Tuesday.

“We are fighting a state which has planned dozens of terrorist acts and we must do all we can to head them off. Social, political and ideological detribalization – that’s the aim of Russia.” Yatseniuk added.

Could Russia be planning to attack the remaining territory of Ukraine during the World War 2 victory celebrations on May 9 and thus begin the World War 3?
