LG G4 Leaks: Leather Back And Other Specs

Updated on

The LG G4’s specifications were recently leaked through the phone’s staging site while it was still being developed. According to the images, the phone’s back side exhibits a stitched leather cover.

Analysts doubt the success of the LG G4

Moreover, the back of the phone consists of a volume button, a speaker fence and a home button, which is a distinctive feature of the G series phones. In addition, the back cover also seems to be fixed, suggesting a removable battery with a memory card slot under it. Such a feature could appease Android enthusiasts who were upset about the permanently-attached battery feature in the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Lee Seung-woo, an analyst from IBK Investment & Securities, has praised LG’s G4, stating, “The leather-backed G4 seemed to be an impressive product,” but considering the strong sales of Galaxy S6 and S6, the market will not offer any advantage to the upcoming phone. The analyst further presumed that sales of the G4 could not even match the amount of G3s sold. As per the data, the company has dispatched almost 10 million G3 phones since it was launched in May of last year.

Snapdragon 808 or 810?

Citing an industry source, a report from the Korea Herald says the company could use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chip instead of the faster version, the Snapdragon 810. This could also pose a disadvantage from the selling point of view for LG, as claimed by an anonymous industry source.

Moreover, a 16-megapixel camera will be a notable trait as it is likely to improve on the issue the G3 had earlier. The camera, presently at the back of the phone, is expected to be fitted with a F1.8 aperture and has been claimed to be able to take more natural pictures due to its “Color Spectrum Sensor.”

As far as the display is concerned, the G4 is expected to be fitted with a 5.5-inch QHD (1440×1560 pixels) resolution IPS display having a pixel density of 535ppi. But the company is claiming it to be a “Quantum” display that provides clear, excellent images and is also battery efficient.

It is believed that the company itself disclosed the characteristics of the G4 as part of a marketing strategy. However, an LG official has denied the allegations, affirming the leak as human error, says the report.
