Microsoft’s newest operating system Windows 10 is still months away from the official release to the public. But the software giant is going to pick up the pace to release more frequent preview builds. Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul said Thursday on Twitter that people who want lower risk should move to the Slow ring. He posted further information in the Windows Insider Hub.
Fast ring users to get new features much faster
Microsoft has not released a new build since January 23. The Redmond-based company realized that it has been “too conservative about pushing builds to the Fast ring.” Aul said the company will speed up the build release for those in the Fast ring. They will be getting fresher codes with all the fixes and features more often. It means those who have signed up for the Insider program can check out new features much faster.

But it has a potential downside. More frequent updates may lead to more bugs and fewer workarounds. Earlier this week, Aul said in a blog post that a new build of Windows 10 preview was ready and validated by the company’s test automation. He said it could be released by the end of this week or early next week. Anyone who chooses to stay in the Fast ring should be prepared for a bumpier ride.
What to expect from the new Windows 10 build
According to Windows Central, the next Windows 10 preview build will have WiFi and Task View improvements. But the biggest feature is likely to be the Spartan browser. Microsoft claims that Spartan will be much better than rival browsers. It will replace Internet Explorer as the new default browser in Windows 10. The forthcoming update is also expected to bring changes to Cortana and the Start menu.
According to Ed Bott of ZDNet, the Start menu will add transparency and more personalization options. Microsoft is expected to integrate Cortana into the Spartan browser. The update will be delivered automatically to PCs running Windows 10 technical preview and configured for the Fast ring. Those in Slow ring will receive the update later.
