Leon Cooperman Gets a Boost Off of NXP Semiconductors Surge

NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ:NXPI), Voltari Corp. (NASDAQ:VLTC) and Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:CYCC) kicked off the first week of March with big gains. Pacira Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:PCRX), Seventy Seven Energy Inc. (NYSE:SSE) and Navient Corporation (NASDAQ:NAVI) took dives.

NXP Semiconductors Rallies on Freescale Acquisition

NXP Semiconductors NV rallied +17.27% this Monday in the wake of an announcement that it will acquire Freescale for $11.8 billion. With 3.45% of his publicly equity portfolio allocated to NXPI as of Q4, Leon Cooperman will get a boost off of the news.

Voltari Corp. surged +12.94% today, putting its year-to-date gain at +25.77%. Billionaire Carl Icahn owns 14.51% of the digital marketing and advertising solutions company.

Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals climbed +12.67%, ending the day at $1.69. The billionaire with a stake in this one: Wilbur Ross.

Parica Pharmaceuticals Tumbles on FDA Rejection

Pacira Pharmaceuticals tumbled -19.58% in the wake of news that the FDA has rejected its application to expand the use of its post-surgery pain drug, Exparel. George Soros is taking a hit on this one.

Seventy Seven Energy plunged -9.58% this Monday, putting its YTD loss at -19.78% and its performance since going public at -82.39%. Carl Icahn wound up with a stake in the firm after it spun off of Chesapeake Energy and maintained his position in Q4.

Navient Corporation dipped -8.83% after equities researchers at Compass Point downgraded the stock from a buy to a neutral rating. Leon Cooperman has a position in the firm.
