While the world is busy discussing the latest Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, or HTC One M9, it seems a bit weird to talk about a six-month-old device. But Steve Kovach of Business Insider recommends you to buy the iPhone 6 Plus rather than its 4.7-inch sibling. While traveling to Barcelona to attend the Mobile World Congress, where Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S6, Steve found that the iPhone 6 Plus was much better than the iPhone 6.
iPhone 6 Plus replaces your iPad
Last year, when he attended the same conference, he owned an iPhone 5S. It was a great phone. But if you use it extensively to take pictures, send emails, and post tweets, you need to charge the device at least twice a day. But this time he had the iPhone 6 Plus when he flew to attend the MWC in Barcelona. It has a 5.5-inch display and a larger battery.
Even though he used it for texting, tweeting, emailing and watching movies, the phone still had 40% battery life after nearly 24 hours. A teardown of the iPhone 6 Plus by iFixit revealed that the phablet packs a 2915mAh battery. By comparison, the iPhone 6 has a 1810mAh battery. Steve notes that battery life is not the only thing that makes him recommend the 5.5-inch phablet over the iPhone 6.
It has changed a lot of his habits, too. A survey by Pocket app late last year showed that the iPhone 6 Plus is changing people’s reading habits. The iPhone 6 Plus users have either dramatically reduced the time they spend on iPads or stopped using iPads altogether. Steve Kovach had a similar experience. He ended up selling his iPad Mini because he rarely used it after buying the iPhone 6 Plus. Plus, the 6 Plus is much easier to carry around than a tablet.
