Galaxy S6 Active Features Leaked; To Arrive On AT&T

Updated on

Samsung gave consumers and critics little reason to complain about its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. However, some fans were disappointed that neither of the two phones was waterproof, which the Galaxy S5 offered. But recent reports suggest that Samsung will introduce the waterproofing along with other rugged use-centric features with the Galaxy S6 Active.

Galaxy S6 Active to pack a huge battery

Recently, the Galaxy S6 Active with model number G890A was spotted on Samsung’s official User Agent profile page. Now, citing inside sources, often-reliable SamMobile reports that the Galaxy S6 Active will feature the same 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display that appears in the standard version of the Galaxy S6. Further, sources said that the S6 Active will have the same hardware innards as the S6 and S6 Edge.

That means the Galaxy S6 Active will have 3GB RAM, 64-bit Exynos 7420 processor, 32GB internal storage, 16MP main camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera. But the S6 Active will have a much bigger battery than its non-rugged siblings. The Galaxy S6 Active will pack a huge 3,500mAh battery, according to SamMobile.

AT&T to be the first provider to offer Galaxy S6 Active

Of course, a bigger battery would lead to an increase in the phone’s size compared to the Galaxy S6. So, the S6 Active will reportedly measure 146.9 x 73.6 x 8.8 mm. At this point, it’s unclear whether it will come with a removable battery and a microSD slot. The Galaxy S6 Active has been spotted on Indian import-export tracking site Zauba. The listing shows the model number G890A with 5.5-inch display, which contradicts SamMobile’s claims of a 5.1-inch display.

SamMobile says AT&T will be the first carrier to offer the Galaxy S6 Active with a rugged design. This isn’t a big surprise considering AT&T was the exclusive wireless carrier to support the S4 Active and S5 Active. The new S6 Active is expected to debut just weeks after the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
