Stay In Warren Buffett’s Childhood Home In Omaha For Free: Airbnb

Updated on

If you need a place to stay when you travel to Omaha this May for the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting, you should check out Airbnb for an authentic “Warren Buffett experience”, including staying in the legendary investor’s childhood home in Omaha during your visit.

More on Airbnb listing of Warren Buffett’s childhood home

On the weekend of the annual shareholders meeting for Berkshire Hathaway in May, Airbnb is running a contest to give away a stay for six people at Buffett’s three-bedroom childhood home. Contestants are required to provide “creative answers” to questions about Omaha and their travel “bucket list.”

Of note, the Airbnb listing also includes some trivia about the house where Berkshire’s chairman spent his formative years.

• The library: Catch up on your reading. This room was once Warren Buffett’s dad’s study. The shelves are original, but the desk is long gone: it’s now actually in Warren’s own Berkshire Hathaway office!
• Formal dining room: Host your own family board meetings in the formal dining room, illuminated by the chandelier added by Warren’s parents.
• Bedrooms: The house has three bedrooms, and the upstairs bedroom with twin beds was Warren’s room — we can assume this is quite possibly the world’s best spot to dream up money-making schemes. You’re never too young to be an entrepreneur in this household: Warren started his first enterprise selling chewing gum door-to-door at age 6.

Airbnb is undertaking a major campaign to make rooms available in Omaha during this year’s annual meeting at the personal request of the Oracle of Omaha, who has been focused on lowering the cost of attending the big event for a couple of years now (local hotels are always fully booked and often double or triple their usual prices for the week of the meeting).
