Samsung surprised the markets by unveiling a curved edge Galaxy Note Edge alongside the Galaxy Note 4 in September last year. Even before the device hit the stores, the Korean company had made it clear that the Galaxy Note Edge was a ‘limited edition concept.’ It was not aimed at masses. Though Samsung was slow to roll out the phone, it has recorded impressive sales since launch.
Galaxy Note Edge on track to hit 1 million units sales
According to South Korean website DT (via Phone Arena), Samsung has sold 630,000 units of the Note Edge so far. That may not seem like a lot considering the company sold 4.5 million units of the Galaxy Note 4 in the very first month of launch. But the Note Edge was a niche product, and costs much higher than the Galaxy Note 4.

A good sign for Samsung
Better than expected sales of the Galaxy Note Edge are a good sign for Samsung. It won’t help the company revive its dwindling fortunes. But it indicates what kind of sales we can expect for the forthcoming Galaxy S Edge with dual-edge display. Samsung has sent out invites for a March 1 event in Barcelona where it is expected to unveil the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S Edge.
