Wal-Mart Offering iPhone 6 Christmas Deals

Updated on

Many enthusiastic customers might have missed a chance to buy the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) is offering Christmas deals on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new iPhones. The retail giant has slashed the iPhone 6 price by another $50. Walmart is offering the 16GB iPhone 6 for only $129, compared to its usual price of $179. Apple Store sells the device for $199 on-contract.

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus at throwaway prices

The big-screen iPhone 6 Plus is also selling at throwaway prices. It’s available at Walmart retail stores for just $229, a flat $50 off Walmart’s usual price of $279. On Apple Store, you’ll have to shell out $299 for this device. These steep discounts are aimed at improving traffic at its brick-and-mortar stores after lukewarm sales figures on the Black Friday weekend.

There is no gift card; you get a flat and instant discount when you buy the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus at Walmart. The retailer is also offering 64GB iPhone 6 for $229, down from $279. Sam’s Club members get to save an extra $2, meaning they can buy the 16GB 4.7-inch iPhone 6 for $127 and 64GB version for $227. Walmart has also reduced the price of the iPhone 5S to $49 from $79 on-contract.

iPhone 6 to be a hot item this holiday season

Walmart said the deals are valid only in its physical stores rather than online. However, there is a catch if you want to avail the offer. You’ll need to sign up for a two-year contract with AT&T, Verizon or Sprint. The new iPhones will likely be a hot item this holiday season. Though Apple suppliers have ramped up production and shipping times have improved, the Cupertino company is still struggling to meet the heavy demand.

Walmart is also offering Samsung’s Galaxy S5 for $79 on-contract, down from $139. The deals will be available across the U.S. till Dec.25. The Galaxy S5 offer allows you to save $60 on the usual price. Outside Walmart, Samsung’s flagship smartphone comes with a price tag of $199 on a two-year contract.
