Best Buy Extends Shipping Deadlines And Keeps Doors Open Longer

The retailer, looking to take advantage of a stronger economy, is squeezing the season for all its worth.

Best Buy Co., Inc. is catering to the procrastinating shopper by keeping its doors open longer than they have in years past. The retail giant announced today that from tomorrow up to Christmas Eve shoppers will see early openings and late closings depending on the day. Best Buy is subsequently going with the following schedule at its roughly 850 U.S. stores.

  • Friday, December 19 and Saturday, December 20: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 21: 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Monday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 23: 7 a.m. until midnight
  • Wednesday, December 24: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to opening its stores early and closing them late, the retailer is making it easier for online buyers to receive their goods in time to get them under the tree. All purchases over $35 made on the Best Buy website will automatically receive two-day shipping at no additional cost. Customers who buy products on by 10:30 a.m. CST on Monday, Dec. 22 can get them delivered by Christmas. will also offer overnight shipping options for the true last minute shopper, at a cost, for those shopping on Wednesday, Dec. 23.

As far as in-store pick-up goes, customers have until 4 p.m. local time on Christmas Eve to order on and pick up in-store before the doors close at 6 p.m. is always open for e-gift cards – even on Christmas Day.

Super Saturday and special offers

December 20, or “Super Saturday” is expected to line U.S retailers’ cash registers to the tune of $10 billion by numerous estimates including Shopper Trak. That expected revenue will make Saturday, not “Black Friday,” the busiest shopping day of the year.
