Cook has given more weight to diversity and equality, as he recently came out as gay. The Apple CEO, in his letter declaring his sexuality, said the company will continue to take a strong stand on furthering workplace equality.

Jackson meets heads of top tech firms

At present, Jackson is in the Bay Area where his organization, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, is organizing a workshop on how to address the racial gap in high tech. The workshop is being hosted at Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s headquarters. On Thursday, Jackson will also participate in a rally that will be staged in front of Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, and the labor leader, as well as service workers, will talk about the wealth gap in Silicon Valley.

Jackson is heading a campaign to question high tech companies on how they are taking care of the problem related to the lack of women, blacks and Hispanics in the workplace. Before Cook, Jackson met with Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella and had a meeting scheduled with Intel CEO Brian Krzanich.

Last month, NBC Bay Area reported that the United Service Works West and Rev. Jackson asked Apple to create a better workplace for security guards, who are paid $19.77 per hour on average. In a recent report from the Valleywag titled “The Non-White Workers of Silicon Valley Get Screwed Every Day,” Apple and other big companies in Silicon Valley were slammed.

  1. Apparently Cook is too stupid to realize Jackson’s time is over, nor does he realize Jackson is the master at the”shakedown” and in no way remotely resembles a civil rights leader. Inevitably it will come to money, and the transfer of funds to one of many scam organizations Jackson controls. How can a so called educated, sophisticated man have such little common sense when it comes to Jackson? His exploits are well documented. Jackson runs a “protection racket” that makes organized crime’s effort look meek. There better be some board members with a pinch of brains who can hold the silly Cook in check. You are judged by who you associate with (life 101)!

  2. Jackson – one of the biggest racists in this once great nation. He and that filthy hating POS Sharpton contribute only hate and bigotry in this nation – disgusting that anyone would seek their opinion. Or was Apple threatened by Jackson’s Operation Push (aka do it my way, or we will boycott you), as he always does – saying he would start an Apple boycott if his blackmailing was not accepted by Apple?

  3. Apple Inc. has been accused by nearly 20,000 of its hourly-wage employees that the companies HR practices are not in sync with the requirements of California law, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. Apple allegedly did not abide by the law as far as giving lunch breaks, rest breaks or final paychecks to the employees were concerned.

    Lawsuit over breaks and paychecks
The lawsuit related to the breaks and paychecks was filed for the first time in 2011, and the Superior Court of California certified it as a class-action case on Monday. Apple has been accused of deliberately violating the California wage and hour laws by its workers, who get paid their wages based on the number of hours worked. These include employees working at varying capacities ranging from junior engineers to Apple Store employees and call-center representatives.

“Very often workers were not given meal breaks for seven or eight hours, and sometimes not at all,” said the plaintiffs’ counsel Tyler Belong.

Not only this, the company’s policies are designed in such a manner that made its class members fear that even discussing the various labor policies practiced by the company could lead them into trouble as they might be fired, sued or disciplined.

The case, which does not yet seeks a dollar amount in damages, is Felczer v. Apple, No. 2011-00102593 in the San Diego courtroom of California Superior Court judge Ronald Prager.

  4. Ironic move by apple. this company is rotten and racist at every level, to the point of vicious hatred, vengeance and fraud against minorities. It was so bad, I remember one time back when Nikon was introducing its first digital cameras to Apple employees in Cupertino, my (white highschool dropout) coworkers exploded in a fit of rage after the Nikon presentation because the presenter from Nikon was an Indian. For the next hour I had to tolerate race-jokes of whom that “N**ger” looks like as well as “how many n**gers does it take to screw a lightbulb” jokes. The funny part was these Apple guys were all highschool-dropouts-turned engineers who made their living stealing technical knowledge from newly hired foreigners and taking credit for them. It’s not just cupertino…these morons train their “Apple Store” employees to monitor customers based on race to decide whether or not to refuse service to sell them their iJunk.

  5. So tell Jackson to get all the protestors off their asses and stop obstructing traffic and sales at AAPL stores. As usual; his followers are only ruining things for everyone; including themselves. How about telling them to go to work instead.
Their mission is misguided. He should also speak with his buddy Sharpton; who is the most divisive racist on the planet looking to take us back to 1960 so he has a job.
