Windows 10: Microsoft Addresses Bugs In Build 9879

Updated on

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has rolled out a new update to Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9879. The software giant had released build 9879 just a couple of weeks ago to participants of the Windows Insider Program. Those in the fast ring were able to download and install it, but faced many bugs and performance issues. Fast ring is for those who want to live on the bleeding edge of new updates.

New update addresses a 0xAB bluescreen issue

To resolve those issues, the Redmond-based company has released a “new” Windows 10 build 9879 with a small 2MB patch KB3019269. This update improves performance and fixes bugs. According to a tweet from Gabriel Aul, the latest update addresses a 0xAB bluescreen issue. Aul had earlier tweeted that it would make a couple of additional fixes.

Everything else remains the same. The sticking Num Lock/Caps Lock problem still persists. However, it doesn’t affect users who have downloaded the old build 9879 through the automatic Windows Update earlier this month. The new rollout is for users who “prefer a clean install” or want to install on a virtual machine. You can snag this via Windows Update. Microsoft is providing downloadable ISOs for English, Chinese and Portuguese. Microsoft is expected to roll out the same build for slow ring participants later this week.

Windows 10 to have a business-ready app store

The software giant has reportedly received over 200,000 user initiated feedback on Windows 10 Technical Preview. Last week, Microsoft unveiled a new feature that will have a customized version of Windows Store for enterprises. It will include both in-house as well as approved public apps. Organizations will be able to easily assign apps to individual employees and manage updates. It puts Microsoft squarely against Apple, which has been offering this feature for years.

Microsoft shares gained 0.46% to $47.81 at 11:55 AM EST on Tuesday. The stock has rallied 28% this year so far.
