Police in Manhattan are canvassing the area around a jewelry store on West Street in the Diamond District. Authorities say two men robbed the store and that one of them showed a machine gun while the other showed a handgun. Police have launched heavy search efforts in the area.
Some reports suggest that the robbery was botched, and there are no reports of what, if anything, the armed robbers may have taken from the store. Local media reports that the robbery happened at the same time as the Veterans’ Day Parade just off Fifth Avenue where the parade was taking place.
