Ocwen Financial Climbs Despite Earnings Shortfall

ABIOMED Soars

ABIOMED, Inc. (NASDAQ:ABMD) surged +23.67% today after topping Wall Street forecasts for its fiscal second quarter results. A new second quarter acquisition for Tiger Global, ABMD has gained +15.93% over the past three months.

Calix Inc (NYSE:CALX) got a +21.72% boost this Thursday – the result of its Wednesday earnings report. A provider of broadband communications access systems in North America, CALX has been in Julian Robertson’s portfolios across three quarters. It’s up +11.62% year-to-date.

Finishing the day up +11.29%, Ocwen Financial Corp (NYSE:OCN) climbed despite missing analysts’ expectations with its results report. Billionaire Leon Cooperman picked up 3.58 million OCN shares in Q2 and has likely posted a loss on this one, as the stock’s price has declined -33.18% in the last three months.

Yamana Gold, Goldcorp Tumble

Yamana Gold Inc. (NYSE:AUY) tumbled -17.1% today, putting its YTD loss at -48.26%. Ray Dalio has had a position in the intermediate gold producer since the fourth quarter of 2012, and George Soros initiated a stake in the first quarter of this year. The stock is trading well below the average price paid by both.

The share price of Westell Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:WSTL) fell -14.37% today even though the company beat EPS expectations with its results report on Wednesday. A new Q2 buy for George Soros, WSTL has declined -64.69% this year.

Goldcorp Inc. (NYSE:GG) declined -13.52% after releasing weaker-than-expected Q3 results – the result of increased costs. Like Yamana, Goldcorp is in the investment portfolios of both Ray Dalio and George Soros. It has declined -19.19% over the past month.
