Google Launches Weather and News App For iPhone And iPad

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) launched a news and weather app for iOS users on Wednesday. This handy new app will offer personalized news and weather. It will pull local information from up 65,000 publications including 60 country editions. Users can also customize the app to show topics like fashion, Hollywood, and NASA. Up until today, Google only offered the News and Weather app for Android.

The new app is free for both iOS and Android users. It is available through App Store for both the iPhone and iPad.

 

In other Google-related news, the search giant also has a new feature that reminds users of bills that need to be paid. It can also read bills inside emails.

Other unique features within the app

This new feature is part of the personal assistant function on Google Now. It works by scanning emails and offering reminders about which bills need to be paid. Other new features include parking location reminders and flight time checks.To use this feature, app users must tap the microphone on the and say a phrase like “show me bills” and the app responds with a list of upcoming payments. Google can also produce summaries of past and upcoming bills to help keep users up to date with their finances.

Google may not exactly be as cutting edge as it’s rival Apple but it does offer a lot of useful products and features. Google’s main gem is Android, the mobile operating system that it on many different smartphones and tablets. The California-based search giant has been the only company to offer a solid competitor against Apple. The smartphone industry is a hard industry to break into, it is even harder to remain successful. Google and Apple currently dominate this market sector. Both companies will most likely continue to dominate the industry with quality products and services that tech consumers want.

The fact both companies continue to duke it out for top position shows the strong presence these companies hold.
