Galaxy Note Edge Coming To India and Russia This Year

Updated on

Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Note Edge phablet with curved edge display is a limited edition model. But its edge display has aroused curiosity among consumers the world over. South Korea, China, Australia, Japan, the UK and the United States are among the first few markets to get the device when it goes on sale. Now potential buyers in two more countries can take a sigh of relief. Samsung has confirmed that it will start selling the Galaxy Note Edge in India and Russia by the end of this year.

Samsung didn’t reveal the exact release date

Sale of the Galaxy Note Edge in Russia will begin sometime in November or December with a price tag of RUB 49,990 ($1,225). The company didn’t specify the time frame of India release. GSM Arena expects Samsung to launch the phone in Russia and India around the same time. The Galaxy Note 4 has already hit the shelves in India.

The Galaxy Note Edge will arrive in China later this month with a hefty price tag. Chinese consumers willing to buy it will have to shell out CNY 7,000 ($1,139). Pre-orders in Australia have already begun. But Samsung Australia said earlier this week that it had pushed the release date from Nov.5 to Nov.12. The Galaxy Note Edge will cost a whopping AU$1,249 in Australia.

Galaxy Note Edge to arrive in Japan next week

Canada and the UK won’t get it at launch. Samsung Canada has confirmed that the device will be available in the country early next year. Meanwhile, British retailers are in no mood to wait. They have started taking pre-orders for the phone, and plan to source it from other countries where it will be available. Earlier this month, Japanese carrier KDDI said it would start selling the Note Edge on Oct.23.

U.S. launch date of the Galaxy Note Edge is yet to be announced. But AT&T and T-Mobile versions of the phone have cleared the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) review. Sprint and Verizon models of the Galaxy Note Edge are the next. Once they pass through the FCC, we expect Samsung and U.S. carriers to begin pre-orders and announce a release date.
