For those customers who were wondering what the thinking was behind the new designs, or how the latest handsets differ from their predecessors, Samsung has revealed all. The blog post aims to clear up any confusions that tech heads may have concerning the evolution of the product range.
Galaxy Note 4 And Note Edge: Overall design concept
In a move away from the previous edition’s ‘classic’ design features, more specifically the stitch-back, the new Galaxy Note 4 introduces a metal frame with diamond cuts which signifies a move towards ‘modern sleek’. The loss of the stitch back is just one way in which Samsung has reduced the number of decorative design factors on the new model.
This new emphasis on ‘modern sleek’ did not lead to the removal of the leather soft-back case. Samsung specified that it wanted to retain a sense of being “warm and emotional”, which the soft feel of the leather case allows for. It also maintains the ability of users to swap out batteries, which is a major advantage.
Galaxy Edge screen
Some consumers have been wondering why the screen of the Galaxy Edge was placed on the right-hand side of the device. Samsung wrote that its designers wanted to keep hold of the analog feel, and considers that the screen being on the right-hand side retains the feeling of flicking through the pages of a book.
From a more technical point of view, the technology giant also spoke out on the exact angle of curvature chosen for the Galaxy Edge screen. In what was understandably one of the more difficult factors in designing the device, Samsung had to consider the need for screen clarity from every angle, a sense of grip and sufficient point of impact that functions were activated when the screen was touched.
