BlackBerry Ltd May Launch White Passport In November

Updated on

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) could start shipping a white Passport in November, according to a report from N4BB. The recently launched device is available in black for now, and the company has not yet confirmed the release of the white device.

White Passport to debut along with Classic?

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) has still not revealed any details of the white passport, and no carrier or store including ShopBlackBerry has any information on the device. According to the report, the white device will be available sometime in November. It may be possible that the white Passport be launched along with the release of BlackBerry Classic.

According to N4BB, a site in UAE lists a white Passport. Since the UAE site is not an official distribution partner, nothing can be said about the authenticity of the news.

Passport, which was launched a week ago, has garnered mixed reviews from the media. Some of the reviewers were uncomfortable with the square design and its boxy frame that made the phone difficult to hold.

BlackBerry lover stands up for the Passport

However, hardcore Passport fans like BerryFlow’s Jubei Raziel are not paying any heed to critics. In an article, Raziel thrashed both the media and average consumers, who he says have just failed to understand the greatness of BlackBerry Passport. Raziel said that Passport should be viewed as a productivity device used for performing real tasks.

“It’s a sad state of affairs in social America and the media is at the forefront of this empty parade of superficial and limited consciousness,” Raziel said.

Raziel said that the company never cared about pulling off marketing gimmicks, no smoke and mirrors and did not play U2 after the presentation. He said that Passport is the future of mobility, but the lack of foresightedness fails to appreciate the unavoidable evolution taking hold within the world of mobile communications.

Passport has a square 4.5-inch display with resolution of 1440×1440 pixels, along with a three-row QWERTY keyboard that is touch capacitive. The Passport also sports a 2 megapixel 720p front-facing camera for video calls and a 13 MP rear Camera. The BlackBerry Passport uses the latest BlackBerry OS 10.3.
