New home sales by region, seasonally adjusted, in August:

  • Northeast: SAAR of 31k from 24k last month.
  • Midwest: SAAR of 58k from 58k last month.
  • South: SAAR of 262k from 243k last month.
  • West: SAAR of 153k from 102k last month.


The median sales price of new houses sold in August was $275.6k, down from $280.1k in July.



The seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of August was 203k. This represents a supply of 4.8 months at the current sales rate.
