The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus top the charts once again! Both Apple phones feature cameras that set the gold standard in the industry for smartphone image quality.

The best smartphone cameras

The current smartphone market is already inundated by great camera phones including the Samsung Galaxy S5 and many of the Nokia phone models. The rather impressive assessment comes from DxOMark, a company known as the authority of the photography world. The company put both new iPhones through a series of lab and tests to determined to be equal in overall performance.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus both beat Samsung Galaxy S5 as top phones with best cameras, the Galaxy S5 now ranks third place. Sony’s Xperia Z3 and Z2 take fourth and fifth places respectively.

Why Apple wins with IPhone 6

DxOMark Mobile thinks sizeable displays offer better contrast, color, and clarity. This makes for a better user experience for actual camera and editing features. The pros for photos include great overall exposure, impressive auto focus in both low light and bright light, attractive color rendering, great detail preservation for both indoors and outdoors, and good flash. The cons include luminance noise visible in low light conditions, color quantification, and ghosting/fringing with iPhone 6 camera.

It’s also important to point out the pros and cons of the video camera. Pros include fast and accurate auto focus, excellent stabilization, fine-grained noise, and attractive color in wide-range lighting. The list of cons include the occasional exposure inaccuracies and some stabilization artifacts visible during video capture. The latter issue is a problem with iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple always revolutionizes products with better features and better programs. Since the camera is one of the most important features for just about any smartphone, it’s no wonder Apple felt the need to enhance one of the iPhone’s most significant features.
