Galaxy Note Edge: Release Date And Price Surface

Updated on

We reported a few days ago that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930)’s Galaxy Note Edge will come with a hefty price tag. The device with curved edges might cost you upward of $1,000. Well, Amazon Germany is charging close to €1,000 for the phone. Dutch retailer Notebooksbilliger has also put the price tag at €999. By comparison, the Galaxy Note 4 is expected to cost €699.

Galaxy Note Edge won’t be available in the UK on launch

A China Mobile employee recently posted on the Chinese social networking site Weibo that the Galaxy Note Edge will cost about CNY7,000 ($1,139) in China. However, Samsung remains quiet on the phablet’s launch date and price. Despite little official information, release details are trickling out. British retailer Clove recently said that the Galaxy Note Edge won’t be available in the UK at launch.

Clove said it would source the non-UK stock to make the phone available to the interested customers. What’s more, the phone won’t be available in most of Europe right off the bat. Germany and the Netherlands seem to be among the lucky few countries. Earlier this month, GottaBeMobile spotted three variants of the Galaxy Note Edge passing through the FCC. That’s a crucial step for any device before it’s launched in the United States.

Korea-bound Galaxy Note Edge spotted

GottaBeMobile also reported seeing many South Korea-bound Galaxy Note Edge variants that had passed Bluetooth certifications. In the U.S., the Note Edge is coming to four carriers: Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. The phablet comes with 3GB RAM, 16-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, and the latest Android 4.4 KitKat.

Galaxy Note Edge has a gorgeous high-resolution 5.6-inch Youm OLED screen with 2560×1440 resolution. Note Edge is part of the Korean company’s long-term plans to move toward foldable displays. The edge screen allows users to access frequently used apps, notifications and other things without moving away from whatever they are doing on the phone.
