Android L For Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4 Coming In Nov. [REPORT]

Updated on

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930)’s Galaxy S5 devices may soon get an Android L update, Google’s well-received operating system. Apart from the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy Note 4 is also expected to get the Android L update by November or early December, according to a report in SamMobile.

Can Android L slow down iPhone 6?

Galaxy S5 has been on the market since April, and Note 4 will be available at retail stores on October 17th. Although customers have waited a bit long, Android L is expected to be a worthwhile update. Google’s unveiling of Nexus 9 on Android L has been in the news for quite a while, and the timeline might just add up for Samsung.

Apple, on the other hand, has clearly benefited during this period with the delay of Android L update and no Google product. The iPhone 6 is already smashing records set by its predecessor iPhone 5S. Android L update might prove an effective strategy to slow down Apple’s run.

Android L comes with default encryption activation

Mobile security has always been an issue that has never been satisfactorily addressed by the phone manufacturers. Even Apple was exposed, just couple of weeks ago, when celebrity nude pics were leaked by hacking into the iCloud. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has, however, made sure that the security is not compromised in Android L. Google is working to beef up the security in its upcoming OS.

According to the Washington Post, the company has stated clearly that Android L will have data encryption activated by default. Although it is a move in favor of the users, many law enforcement officials are worried that the encryption might make it harder for them to keep up with criminals. The encryption feature has always been available in Android, but users have been reluctant to use it for various reasons.
