As the expected launch date of the Galaxy Note 4 approaches, the number of alleged leaks is rising rapidly. Everyone claims to have the inside scoop, and today is no different. GSM Arena claims to have some leaked photos of the latest model of the popular phablet.
What will the Galaxy Note 4 look like?
Unsurprisingly, the front of the device in the supposedly leaked images looks pretty much like previous Galaxy Note models. The back still looks like the textured plastic one that was in previous models as well. The sides, however, look like metal. There have been rumors about an even more high-end handset from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) that’s often called the Galaxy Alpha. The metal sides on these new leaked images of the Galaxy Note 4 appear to look like the metal sides that supposedly will be on the Galaxy Alpha.
The images also show a sort of “plastic-like inlay,” as GSM Arena calls it, in the side frame, which suggests that perhaps the Galaxy Note 4 really will have a metal frame, as fans have been hoping.
One thing that’s missing is a three-sided display. Just days ago, one report claimed that the Galaxy Note 4 will have a three-sided display, although that report also suggested that the model with the three-sided display will be produced only in limited quantities.
Other suggestions from the Galaxy Note 4 photos
The photos also show a side holster for the S Pen and also a 3.0 microUSB port on the bottom. In addition, it looks like the Galaxy Note 4 in the images has a heart rate monitor next to the camera lens that’s on the back. The phablet is expected to have a 5.7-inch display but with a better resolution (2,560 x 1,440).
There have also been photos of what is supposedly the box of the new Galaxy Note 4. The device in GSM Arena’s photos looks a lot like the photo on the front of that box, suggesting that perhaps these new photos are real.
Two Galaxy phones expected next month
Samsung recently sent out invites for an event scheduled for Sept. 3, suggesting that there will be two devices unveiled at the same time. It’s widely expected that the rumored Galaxy Alpha will debut alongside the Galaxy Note 4.
A Sept. 3 unveiling will likely put it just days ahead of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s unveiling of the iPhone 6, which is expected to come in a phablet sized 5.5-inch model in addition to a 4.7-inch model.
