Turn Your Android Wear Into iWatch With This App

Updated on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is probably going to enter the wearables market with its rumored smart watch, the iWatch, soon. Numerous reports suggest that Apple is thinking to announce the iWatch this October, and if not in October, then at least before this year’s holiday season.

Recent reports suggested that Apple has added two more Nike engineers to the iWatch team, and it looks like the company is doing everything to announce the iWatch this year. This smart watch is expected to focus on health and fitness tracking just like other smart watches, but just like every other Apple product, it will most likely have its own unique Apple-ish design.

iWatch app for Android Wear devices

But if you can’t wait and have already bought or are thinking about buying an Android Wear smart watch, then you don’t need to wait for the iWatch. You can already give your Wear device an iWatch look, thanks to this new app on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Play store.

The app is called “iWatch,” and it gives an animated watch face to your Android Wear device. The only requirement is that your device should be square-shaped. The developer says that this is the first time that an animated watch face is made available for Android Wear. Installation instructions and more details are available on the app’s page on the Google Play store.

Of course right now Apple has not officially even said anything about the supposed iWatch, so the looks of the iWatch app are based on rumors and reports and by looking at Apple’s typical design language. What’s more, you don’t even need to spend a penny on this app, as it’s free.

Here’s how you can check if your smartphone is compatible with Android Wear.
