Battle Of Minis: Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini vs. Galaxy S4 Mini

Updated on

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Mini brought a lot of the best features of its flagship model to a smaller package. The budget-friendly phone also offers quality and value. But it won’t be long before this version is replaced with forthcoming Galaxy S5 Mini. What can fans expect from the next generation of Galaxy S Mini phones and how does it compare to the previous generation? When will the phone arrive in stores? Here is a closer look at the latest reports and what we can expect.

Upgrades And Features For Galaxy S5 Mini

The  Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is really just a smaller version of the Galaxy S5 so we can expect a design that is very similar. It features a perforated plastic back cover complete with a shiny metallic edge. It also measures 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1 millimeters which means it is smaller and lighter than the larger Galaxy S5 but it is not really tiny. It also looks like its predecessor save for the fact the Galaxy S4 is a bit lighter and slimmer.

Last year’s version featured a 4.3 inch 540 x 960 Super AMOLED screen, which provided a brighter screen with a lower resolution. This year’s version takes it up a notch with a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280. Although it is not exactly full high-definition, it is a nice upgrade.

The  Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini includes a Samsung 1.4GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM.  This is comparable to the Galaxy S4 Mini’s 1.7 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1.5GB of RAM.

The older phone features Android 4.3 and the newer version features Android 4.4, both models feature TouchWiz interface. Another big change for the Galaxy S5 Mini is the camera. Although both versions boast an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, the latest version includes a 2.1 megapixel front camera, a nice upgrade from the Galaxy S4 Mini’s 1.9 megapixel.

The Galaxy S5 Mini will launch in Russia sometime this month before going global.
