iPhone 6 Release Date, Price: More Rumors

Updated on

The iPhone 6 release date is anyone’s guess, but multiple reports have made multiple suggestions. Who knows? Maybe Apple is testing its partners’ reliability by sending out mixed signals like it did with the many mockups of the handset that have been floating around.

iPhone 6 release date in September

China.com reports that sources say Apple will show off the iPhone 6 on Sept. 15 and then release it on Sept. 25. The timing’s not that much different than the timing of previous iPhone launches in recent years. It’s just about in line with last year’s unveiling and launch of the iPhone 5S and 5C, which hit store shelves on Sept. 20. Previously, there were reports that Deutsche Telekom was gearing up for a Sept. 19 iPhone 6 release date. Tencent also reported that its sources claimed the smartphone would launch on the same date.

The Chinese website also reports that the 16 GB 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will sell for 5,288 yuan, which is approximately $850.

Bigger iPhone said to be called iPhone Air

The site also claims that the larger 5.5-inch iPhone will actually be dubbed the iPhone Air and that the 16 GB model will sell for 5,998 yuan, which is around $965. That would be in line with analyst suggestions that the larger iPhone will be around $100 more than the smaller one. It makes sense too, as it seems many people are willing to pay an extra $100 to have a phablet-sized iPhone.

The report states that the 5.5-inch iPhone Air will be unveiled with and launched alongside the 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

Expected iPhone 6 features

Aside from the iPhone 6 release date and launch date, there have been all manner of rumors flying around. Some say it could have a slightly curved screen, although that seems unlikely. Most expect it to be slimmer and suggest that there could be a 128 GB option with one or both of this year’s iPhone models.
