The iPhone 6 is on the way later on in 2014, and the flurry of rumors surrounding the construction and specs of the smartphone are beginning to coalesce. There is little chance of a holographic keyboard at this stage, much to the disappointment of more optimistic Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fans. Despite the fall in the wildness of the rumors, it can still be hard to keep track.
Luckily for those who want a picture of the possibilities of the iPhone 6, the people over at French tech site Nowhereelse put together a neat infographic detailing all of the rumors surrounding the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) smartphone. Analysts are expecting the device to hit the shelves in the Fall of this year, so now’s the time for iPhone lovers to start looking at contracts and planning their upgrades.
A picture of iPhone 6 possibilities
The infographic shows not only what the rumors are, but what the best guesses of tech writers put their probability at. The chances of a larger screen, which the infographic predicts will be 4.7 inches, is 100% according to the image. A glowing Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) logo on the back of the device, however, only warrants a 10% rating from the team that assembled the numbers.
Unfortunately, some of the features that people seem to really want from the iPhone 6 are rated pretty poorly by the infographic. The chances of the device having 128 GB of storage as an option sits at just 40%, while Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) only has a 25% chance of implementing Near Field Communications, or NFC, technology into its new premium smartphone.
One of the more persistent rumors about the iPhone 6, that it will feature a display constructed out of Sapphire crystal rather than Gorilla Glass, warrants just a 60% likelihood from this infographic. That means the use of the material may not be the foregone conclusion that some writers have worked into their models of the company’s future.
iPhone 6 may be delayed
The large screen that’s set to feature on the smartphone may be the most troublesome part of the device. According to reports Apple has had to delay a bigger, phablet styled, variant of the iPhone 6 because of production and design issues relating to the larger screen, the production of the metal casing and the availability of batteries to suit the massive smartphone. The iPhone 6 is going to be thin, and making something that thin could cause huge production problems.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may have related problems with production of the regular variant of the iPhone 6 related to those it’s having with the phablet version. Release date is not numbered among the probabilities on today’s infographic.
There is no certainty that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) actually is working on a 5.5 inch variant of its smartphone, but the market for a large phone is there, and the company would be unwise to leave money on the table. This infographic doesn’t go into the phablet device, which may be named as a variant of the iPhone 6, but it’s important to look at the effect of the larger device on the future of the company.
