iPhone 6 Fingerprint Scanner Photo Supposedly Leaked

Updated on

The iPhone 6 will continue to be the center of rumors until it comes out, with more and more alleged leaks making their way into the media. This time it comes in the form of the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, which really doesn’t look that much different than the one that’s in the iPhone 5S.

The French blog Nowhere Else posted the photos (picked up by Mac Rumors). The biggest difference between the Touch ID sensor that’s supposedly for the iPhone 6 and the one that was in the iPhone 5S is the placement of the screws. As would be expected, we can’t really tell too much about the iPhone 6 just from looking at the fingerprint sensor.

One thing that should be noted is that changing the placement of the screw holes could suggest a redesign of the component. Recently there was a report which suggested that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) might have redesigned it to make it more durable.

iPhone 6 expectations

We also heard rumors this week that Apple has fixed the battery issue for the iPhone 6. Supposedly those issues had caused a delay in the unveiling of the handset, but the supplier allegedly fixed them, paving the way for a possible September unveiling and launch.

Even though the iPhone 6 isn’t expected to be out for a couple more months, it hasn’t kept scammers from trying to profit from the anticipation for the device. Most expect it to have a 4.7-inch display and that Apple will also launch a 5.5-inch handset. This week a counterfeiter in China apparently released a cloned device that was supposedly the iPhone 6. Of course it’s nothing but a fake, as Apple hasn’t even shown off the handset, let alone released it for sale.

There continues to be debate about whether the rumored 5.5-inch iPhone will be launched alongside the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 or delayed until next year. The answer to this quandary really depends on who you ask.
