Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s upcoming iPhone has supposedly omitted one brightness enhancement film for its display, which will allow the company to minimize the size of LCD component in the handset and design the slimmest and lightest iPhone.
Move to make iPhone 6 slimmer
At present, the company installs two brightness enhancement films in iPhone 5S for Retina Display. However, the Chinese Times reported that the iPhone maker might have excavated the way to use just one film and uphold the same level of performance. Though the Cupertino, Calif. based company will be able to offer lighter design, manufacturing process will become intricate.
To level up the supply, Apple will have to ramp up number of suppliers as per the report of China Times. Other than Miebea; OMRON and Radiant would, also, start supplying backlight enhancement films to Apple for the iPhone 6 display. Apple is supposedly prepping up to launch two-versions of iPhone 6, one with a display size of 4.7 inches and another one with larger screen size of 5.5 inches. Both the versions will be larger than the display screen of iPhone 4S, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5. Upcoming iPhone 6 will be as thin as current iPod Touch, which is 6.1 millimeters compared to the thickness of iPhone 5S, which is 7.6 millimeters.
Apple prepping for launch
Apple iPhone 6 will differ from its predecessors in design and is expected to be akin to that of iPod Touch with rounded edges. The few leaked pictures on the web suggest the lock button on the device will be shifted to the upper right side of the handset and volume buttons will be pill shaped instead of circles.
It is widely expected that next iPhone will be released in September. Also, the iOS8 will be made available to the iPhone users around the same time. Apple has already started the bulk hiring, which further solidifies the rumors of its launch in couple of months. In order to cope-up with the increased retail traffic, the company would need to hire new staff.
Foxconn, the component supplier of Apple has already hired 100,000 new employees to fulfill the expected production demand, according to recent reports. The iPhone 5S clocked in sales of 2.75 million in a day, when it was launched in September 2013. If iPhone 6 garners similar or even greater sales, company should better be prepared.
