Nokia Utilization Plan Revealed By Microsoft’s Leaked Documents

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s plan to utilize Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) devices, services and employees has been leaked by the tipster Evleaks. The leaked document includes a 31 question FAQ, and was probably sent to Nokia employees who are joining Microsoft post-acquisition.

Microsoft retains brand names

As per the document, the software giant claimed the rights to use Nokia branding for product marketing purposes. It will use Nokia branding up to 18 months for Lumia devices and 10 years for mobile phones. Additionally, Microsoft will collaborate with Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s advertising partners. The company’s mobile phones consist of Lumia, Asha, Nokia X and other mobile portfolios. The document also stated that the Nokia care center and retail stores would continue to be active until further notice and will run under the same brand name. Nokia assets and DAP will also be transferred to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), allowing access for Nokia employees.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will not take up any rebranding for the Nokia apps and the names will remain same for all the running apps. Other things that would remain unchanged are old and current advertising campaigns, including web links and pages. Those apps and application developed after the deal will use Microsoft’s Segoe font.

Employees can freely contact the Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) or the Microsoft team if they have any questions over  the rebranding of  products as both the companies are working in close collaboration. Employees will specifically work for Microsoft and they are advised to make this clear.

Nokia tune and icon to remain default

The Finnish company continues to own Nokia tunes, the iconic joining hands animation and connecting people logo. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will continue to keep the default ringtone as Nokia tune and the same animation with the logo will appear on the start screen. Any future changes are not known yet.

The document also reveals Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s “brand promise,” which suggests “Tools for unleashing innovation in everyone on the planet,” that applies to its past, present and potential customers. The company will make significant efforts towards listening, learning and adapting to customer needs, and creating products that will make customers realize the importance of innovation along with the future of technology. The document states that the brand promise compliments the company’s primary mission.
