Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows Phone 8.1 OS would soon include a feature that will allow the users to create the folders for the easy management of apps, a feature already available to the iOS and on some versions of Android. The steps for creating the folder on Windows Phone 8.1 were accidentally revealed on the official website of the company, but the page has now been taken down.
iOS already offers what Microsoft is prepping for
Users can overlap one app tile over the other and can create a folder, giving a name to it. For deleting the apps from the folder users can open the folder and remove the app outside the folder.
The new feature would probably be included in the first update for Windows Phone 8.1, which is said to launch in July or August as per The Verge.
Apple already offers this feature to its users since iOS4, where users can drag one app over another and include more apps into the folder. Most probably, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and even for the Windows Phone8 would not include this feature as indicated by the statement over the web that says, “To create folders on your Start screen, you need to have Windows Phone 8.1 Update installed on your phone.”
Are 3D Touch Sensors coming on Windows Phone 8.1?
Jerry Berg, Senior Software Development Engineer at Microsoft said in an interview that something will happen in the Windows Phone space that will change the entire world across. He asked people to wait for it and it will be pretty amazing.
Berg’s statement can be in respect of anything. Cortana has already been officially announced, the only another unannounced feature for the Windows platform was the 3D Touch or Real Motion interface that was anticipated to launch on the Nokia Lumia handset dubbed as ‘Goldfinger.’
The 3D touch interface will use the device’s sensors to track the gestures that are off-the glass. Nokia Goldfinger will supposedly include gesture support through which the users could run the phone without touching the display. Gestures like flipping and scrolling will be included. Microsoft is expected to release another phone codenamed as ‘McLaren,’ which is, also, said to include the gesture control feature and would be released on various US carriers by the end of this year.
