Herbalife Ltd. (HLF) Member Wins Entrepreneurship Award

Controversial nutrition and supplement company Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) announced last week that that Claudia Abonce, an independent Herbalife member from San Antonio, received the 2014 President’s Award for Entrepreneurship from the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Hedge find titan Bill Ackman has had a large short position in Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) for more than a year now, and claims that the company is a “pyramid scheme.” Last week Ackman said he believes “that the government will start arresting people” in its ongoing investigation of Herbalife.

“We are excited to announce Claudia as the 2014 recipient of our President’s Award for Entrepreneurship,” said San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President Ramiro A. Claudia has built a successful business and contributes positively to our San Antonio community, the pillars on which this chamber has been built. Her work inspiring those around her to be healthier continues to help make the greater San Antonio community a better place to live. The press release also noted Abonce is one of over 68,500 independent Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) members in Texas.
