Bitcoin Apps Return To Apple Inc. iOS Store

Updated on

Recently, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) took a softer approach toward its policy on virtual currency by allowing Bitcoin wallets and in-app Bitcoin payments. And now, to take advantage of the currency, the first app facilitating Bitcoin is now live in the App Store.

Similar functionality as before

According to Coindesk, Coin Pocket is the first Bitcoin app for iOS to re-enter the App Store. Coin Pocket app allows users to perform similar operations as they use to do previously with the iPhone wallet apps like Coinbase and Blockchain. With the help of the app, users will be able to send and receive Bitcoin. Also, users will be able to check the price of the virtual currency and collect private keys at one place and encrypt them, which is useful for quick transfers of funds from other wallets.

“Check your state and federal laws on the transmission of Bitcoin or virtual currencies before using the send feature of this app. You are liable for the use of Bitcoin in your jurisdiction,” the app’s description reads.

Earlier, Coin Pocket made itself available by bypassing Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s security to become available on mobile web browsers. Now, the app is fully legal, so you can use the camera of a device for the purpose of QR code scanning.

Positive feedbacks on Apple app store

Now, since Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has approved Bitcoin wallets, it’s now left to developers to come up with fully-featured apps for the mobile OS, which is very popular among the premium segment. Users of previously blocked apps like Blockchain will have to wait for the updates to put them on similar footing to Android users in terms of functionality. The popular app Blockchain was downloaded over 120,000 times before it was blocked by Apple.

Along with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), eGifter, which is a general purpose app, is the first to acknowledge Bitcoin payments. eGifter now allow users to buy gift cards from over 200 brands using the virtual currency.

The new iOS Bitcoin app has been getting positive responses from fans on Reddit and in the App Store itself.
