Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s much awaited iWatch could soon be seen on people’s wrists. According to the Japanese daily Nikkei, the iPhone maker is prreparing to release the iWatch in October, a device that will be powered by iOS8. Furthermore, the iWatch will be a curved OLED device and will integrate health data from user’s smartphone.

The long-awaited Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 could also be released towards the end of this year, most probably on September 19, but there is no official release date yet and Apple did not give any hints during the recent Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
Previously, CEO Tim Cook indicated that the company may launch a smartphone in 2014. Back in February 2013, Cook said that the company has undertaken a good bit of new product development, which further fuels iWatch speculation.
Earlier, the Financial Times also reported that the iPhone maker is hiring employees from some high-end watch companies to enhance its expansion in the watch industry.
The iWatch launch news follows the showcase of the upcoming health tracking app HealthKit from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Healthkit will monitor heart rate, blood pressure, weight and other data across a range of devices.
Apple’s iWatch different from others
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not the first company to develop a smartwatch. The ‘Pebble’ and ‘I’m Watch’ are already available in the market and Apple needs to make a device that offers more.
Eearlier this week, it was rumored that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iWatch may serve as personal weight lifting coach for a user. A granted patent stated, “Shoe wear-out sensor, body-bar sensing system, unitless activity assessment and associated methods”, according to what was published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent describes a sensor connected to a weighlifting body bar to monitor and save capability and progress data. These sensors could be attached to the sneakers or other footwear of users. However, the latest filing indicates that the sensors will fit on the body bar and show results on the mobile device.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s patent provides details on the very small and portable sensors that can be switched between the exercise equipment. Users would need to connect them to see the results on a mobile device.
