Also, the upcoming flagships are expected to be rounder and sleeker than their predecessors according to the sources. Larger screen iPhone 6 will challenge Samsung and HTC, which offer displays that are as large as 5.7 inches.

Bloomberg, citing sources with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s supply chain, also noted that the next generation of iPhone 6 models will go into production somewhere in July, and the 4.7-inch version is scheduled to debut around September. Also, the bigger 5.5-inch version, which was previously believed to get delayed by a month, could also be available at the same time.

Rumors surrounding iPhone 6

Yesterday, rumors suggested that Foxconn, a contract manufacturer of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is planning to hire 100,000 workers to manufacture and supply large volume of the iPhone 6. Another manufacturer, Pegatron would be helping Apple with 30% of the iPhone production. Also, there have been rumors that Apple will ship 5.5 inch iPhone 6 only in limited quantities at first because sapphire encasing is not available in large quantities.

Last month, a report from Taiwan’s United Daily News/ Economic Daily  suggested that over 90% of the shipment will be of the 4.7 inch model out of total iPhone units, which are expected to be somewhere around 80 million.

Another report claimed that machine tool manufacturers and component suppliers in Japan are hurrying up for the preparation of next generation iPhone. According to a Nikkei report domestic orders for industries that are related to next-gen iPhone is increasing.

Bloomberg previously noted that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is working on the curved glasses and advanced sensors that will be capable to detect variable level of pressures. Smartphone screens can be made thinner with the latest “2.5-dimension glass” and the metal bezel could be fit into the phone with greater accuracy providing more finesse. However, it is not yet confirmed if this technology will debut in the iPhone 6.
