Apple Inc. iPhone 6 Will Feature NFC, Wireless Charging [REPORT]

Updated on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s next generation of iPhone, unofficially dubbed as the iPhone 6, is going to launch in just a few months, but given the large number of leaks and rumors about the new device, we can get a pretty good idea of what to expect. Apart from having a large screen and powerful specs, a new report now suggests that we can also expect NFC, wireless charging and faster LTE.

 iPhone 6 to feature NFC

This report comes from courtesy of VentureBeat, and we’ve seen many past rumors claiming that the iPhone 6 would feature NFC. However, the claims of wireless charging and faster LTE are brand new. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) typically doesn’t stuff too many features in its iPhone, and this report would not seem to jibe with the typical ‘Apple’ way.

The iPhone 6, which will launch this fall, will contain several highly-anticipated features, including near field communication (NFC), wireless charging, a better 4G antenna, and a much bigger screen, a source close to the situation tells VentureBeat.

According to the source, the new iPhone is nearing completion, and is now in the testing phase. The smartphone will run Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s latest iOS 8 operating system.

Apple under pressure to increase screen size

In terms of the new phone’s screen size, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been under the pressure to increase its screen size because its competitors are doing the same thing and also because of consumer’s desires. Most Android smartphones, on the other hand, come with a pretty big screen size, whereas the  iPhone 5S still comes with only 4-inch screen. There’s also a rumor that a 5.5-inch new iPhone model is in the works, and because of some manufacturing issues, it will be launched later.

The current generation of iPhone, the iPhone 5S, features a category 4 LTE radio, with a speed of 150 Mbps, but the if the claims are true, then iPhone 6 would feature a LTE radio that featuring a speed of 300 Mbps.

The iPhone 6 is expected to be announced in September, and we can also expect Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to announce new iPads, Macs, an iWatch and more in the same event. It seems like Apple has many new gadgets to announce this year.
