As per the Unicode 7.0 standard update, 2,834 new characters will be available. This list of new characters includes new currency symbols, historic scripts and emojis, as well as a number of character additions to many existing scripts.

New emojis characters derive from Wingdings and Webdings characters

According to the blog post, “Most of the new emoji characters derive from characters in long-standing and widespread use in Wingdings and Webdings fonts.”

Check out a small preview of the new emojis below. Just in case if you had any doubt, yes, the long-awaited middle finger emoji is coming too…but since you’re a polite person, you won’t use it, right?

Apart from that, you can also expect a bird, floppy disk, desktop computer, chipmunk, bullhorn, weather related and an om symbol among others.

Emojis have changed the way we have online conversations today. They add life to our boring text conversations, and they also help us to better express ourselves. For example, instead of saying that you’re happy, you can simply use the happy face emoticon. But now with these new emoji icons, you’ve got many new choices apart from the regular emojis that we’ve seen and used till now.

Just in case if you want to find out the names of all these new emojis, then check out this page. Photos of each new emoji will soon be added to Emojipedia as soon as they are available.
