LG Fitness Wearables Arriving May 18

Updated on

LG’s Lifeband Fitness Tracker and Heart Rate earbuds will come to Best Buy retail stores on Sunday May 18th. These earbuds were featured at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year. The Fitness Tracker device’s price will start at $149.99 and the earbuds start at $179.

Best Buy will have both devices for a month-long exclusive. After the exclusive deal, the Lifeband Touch will be available at HH Gregg, Newegg, and Fry’s.

Details on the LG Lifeband Fitness Tracker

The Lifeband Fitness tracker is a wrist-worn gadget. It features an OLED touch display which allows users to listen to music, view phone notifications, and check biometrics all from the user’s smartwatch. Lifeband is compatible with iOS and Android via Bluetooth 4.0 and connects to several key LG’s fitness application. It also works with other third-party fitness apps including Runkeeper, MapMyFitness, and MyFitnessPal.

The device’s 90mAh battery has a charge that lasts up to five days before a recharge is needed. It also comes in three size options to offer users a more custom fit.

Before LG’s Lifeband was unveiled at this year’s CES event, it was exposed by Evleaks in a tweet. This device was allegedly named LG Lifeband Touch and it appeared similar to Smart Activity Tracker, a device that was rumored but never released.

A closer look at Heart Rate Earphones

The Heart Rate Earphones can be used alone, with a smartphone or with LG’s Lifeband Fitness. This device was designed to measure the wearer’s heart rate and heart rate zone using voice feedback. Like the previously mentioned device, this device can also be used for both iOS and Android.

The current influx of fitness-related mobile devices show there is a strong market for these kind of devices. That demand will likely continue to grow over time. There are also rumors that Apple may join in this year with a purported iWatch, although this device would more likely compete directly with Samsung’s smartwatch.
