Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has come out with a 3D interface that allows users to make interact with devices by touching illusions created in the air. The technology creates an interactive 3D illusion with the help of a 3D camera and a special type of glass, says a report from BBC.
Intel demonstrating the chip power
The proof of the technology was showcased at a London event held at Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s Perceptual Computing Lab. In the near future, such technology could be located in public places like cash dispensers or photo booths; providing a more secure and hygienic experience, according to its developers.
Previously, depth-sensing cameras have been utilized to take the place of mouse for controlling computers, but the technology from Intel combines the two into a visible 3D interface.
Apart from its new 3D air technology, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) unveiled many other new and nearly complete concept products at the London event. Some of the gadgets shown during the event will be manufactured and sold by Intel itself. The main idea behind presenting so many concept products is to make consumer electronics companies and consumers aware of the possible products that can be made using Intel processors and other technology in the next few years.
Other products showcased at the event
Along with other products, Intel also unveiled a wireless charging bowl, which was seen at CES earlier this year. According to the company, its product is different from other wireless charging technologies as others require the device to be properly positioned, but with Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s technology, you just need you to put the device in the bowl. Furthermore, more than one device can be charged at one time using this magnetic resonance technology. As of now, no date has been fixed for the commercial launch of the charging bowl.
Another interesting technology showcased was an advances dashboard for a smart car. With the help of the dashboard, a driver could get information like the time he or she had to wait at a traffic light. The dashboard could even warn the driver if a school bus had stopped to pick up children nearby.
One more impressive offering from Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) was RealSense, which is an infrared scanner module that allows a user to create 3D images of real-world objects and access menus on the screen by moving their hand.
